Romania's territory extends over 237,500 square kilometers and has a land border approximately 2,508 kilometers in length.
The countries neighboring Romania are Moldavia to the east, Hungary and Serbia to the west, Bulgaria to the south and the Ukraine to the north.
The longest land border of 608 kilometers is the Bulgarian border and the Ukrainian border, to the north, the shortest border, is 169 kilometers long.

The population of Romania as at 2023 is 19,892,812, and is comprised mainly of Romanians who account for some 89% of the population in addition to other minorities.
From the aspect of religion, some approximately 87% of Romanian residents are members of the Christian Orthodox Church, 4.7% are Catholics and the remainder belong to other religions or denominations.



The natural population increase in Romania is a negative 0.12% per annum while the population density is 94 people per square kilometer.

Administratively, Romania is divided into 6 regions and these are divided into 41 counties including Bucharest County.
