Singapore cuts 2023 economic growth forecast
August 2023Singapore downgraded its economic growth forecast for 2023 to between 0.5 per cent and 1.5 per cent amid a weak outlook for the export-driven manufacturing sector.
The growth forecast was narrowed from an earlier range estimate of 0.5 per cent to 2.5 per cent after the economy grew by an annual 0.5 per cent in the second quarter of 2023 and 0.4 per cent in the first three months.
Singapore Employment Q1 2012
May 2012According to data released by the ministry of manpower on April 30 2012 the employment is estimated to have grown by 27,400 in the first quarter of 2012, lower than the increase of 37,600 in the fourth quarter of 2011 and the 28,300 growth in the first quarter of 2011.
Singapore's Millionaires Top the List
June 2011According to a study released by Boston Consulting Group Singapore has the world highest percentage of millionaire households, 15.5% of its population.
Second is Switzerland having 9.9% and Qatar with 8.9%.
When taking into account the number of millionaires the U.S. tops the list with 5.2 million followed by Japan with 1.5 million and China with 1.1 million.
Singapore Cools Real Estate Market
January 2011The Singapore government unveiled on January 14 new measures aiming to cool its soaring real estate prices.
Individuals owning one or more flats will be allowed to get loans up to 60% of the property value, compared to the previous 70% rate.
In addition the period for imposing stamp duty on sellers within short period increased from the previous 3 years period to 4.
The seller's stamp duty imposed in the cases of short term sales increased dramatically, in some cases up to eight times compared to the previous stamp duty rates.
