Malaysia new tax 2023June 2023
With the announcement of the Malaysia Budget 2023, an individual with a taxable income of between RM 50,001 and RM 70,000 can enjoy a reduction in tax from 13% to 11%.
The tax rate for those falling within the RM 70,001 to RM 100,000 bracket is also reduced from 21% to 19%.
Malaysia GST UpdateJune 2018
Starting June 1, 2018 the GST, goods and services tax, in Malaysia was reduced from previous 6% to zero.
Malaysia Tourism TaxSeptember 2017
Starting August 1, 2017 the tourism tax is imposed on hotels in Malaysia.
The tax rate is MYR 10 per night per room.
Permanent residents and Malaysian citizens are exempt from the tax.
Malaysia GSTApril 2015
Starting April 1, 2015 a 6% goods and services tax, GST, applies in Malaysia.
The GST replaces the sales tax, ranging 5%-10% and the 6% service tax . The reporting and payment of the GST is on a monthly or quarterly basis depending on the annual turnover of the supplier.
