The Latvian LAT (LVL)
- The currency in use is the Latvian LAT (LVL). The LVL is divided into a 100 Santims.
- Notes are available in denominations of LAT 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100.
Coins are available in denominations LAT 1 and 2, and in denominations of between 1 - 50 Santims.
- There is a permanent rate of exchange of LVL 1.955 to Euro 1.
- Latvia is expected to join the EU in 2004 and the Euro will then become the official currency.
