Sony's Annual LossApril 2012 Sony corporation announced on April 10, 2012 that according to its forecast the net loss for the year ending March 31, 2012 would result in about $ 6.4 billion, the worst result in the last 22 years. Sony is expected to fire 10,000 employees, about 6% of its workforce. Japan's Downgrade by S&PApril 2011 Standard & Poor's downgraded on April 27 Japan's sovereign rating outlook from stable to negative. S& P's downgrade which is the first since 2002 follows concerns about Japan's ability to control its deficit after last month's earthquake. Japan's Trade Surplus NarrowsDecember 2010 The ministry of finance released on December 22 trade statistics comparing November 2010 data to November 2009. Japan's export in November 2010 totaling 5,441.1 billion yen increased by 9.1% compared to the previous November, marking the 12nd consecutive monthly growth.
