From 1.1.2008 the EURO is the currency in use in Cyprus.
From 1.1.2008 the exchange rate is fixed, 1 EUR equals CYP 0.585274.
The Cypriot pound (CYP) was the currency in use till 31.12.2007. The CYP was divided into 100 cents.
Notes and coins of the following denominations were in circulation:

- Coins appeared in denominations of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 cents.

- The CYP appeared in denominations of CYP 1, 5, 10, 20.
